Building Exteriors

Building Exteriors are the most common thing that people think about when someone mentions “pressure washing.” That’s because that is where mold and mildew develop the quickest, and is the most visible from the street. Even “maintenance free” exteriors like vinyl siding will often develop unsightly mold and mildew every year or so. Handyman Solutions will use a special mixture of detergents and high-tech equipment to clean your home at low pressures without water intrusion or damage to your plants.

 

Gutters

The black streaks, or haze that form on your exterior gutters are from pollution. There is no way to prevent these black streaks from forming, but you can slow the process down by keeping your gutters clean. These streaks are very difficult to remove, and the chemicals required to remove them successfully are not available to the general public.

Fortunately, a regular cleaning by Handyman Solutions will remove them. However, if you have ignored your gutters so long they are already a consistent shade of gray - be aware that your first cleaning may require tedious and expensive hand scrubbing to look new again.

Driveways

Over a period of years, your new driveway will fade from a bright white to a dingy blackish color. This darkening is a combination of mildew, auto exhaust, and tire rubber and grime. Pre Power Wash Checklist

The following Pre-Power Washing Check list is recommended  to make the job site safer, increase job productivity and to insure the highest quality outcome for your complete satisfaction:

 

All windows and doors must be closed tightly. If exterior window trim is to be washed during the house wash screens must be removed by owner prior to appointment. We can provide this service for $5 per screen (to remove then replace) plus any labor and material cost for the replacement of deteriorated screen hardware (the small nylon catches which may crumble) if hardware replacement is needed.

All vehicles must be removed from the surrounding area. Any vehicles that need to be utilized during the cleaning process should be removed from garages and/or driveways prior to scheduled appointment.

Work area must be free of all movable obstructions; we recommended moving items a minimum of fifty (50) feet away from the work area prior to the job start. Easier access allows for much better and safer cleaning.

Children must not be allowed in work area or left outside unsupervised during cleaning process. If someone needs to exit, make sure to look before opening a door and signal crew prior to exiting. Eyes or Clothing may be damaged inadvertently walking through an area being cleaned.

If possible avoid watering lawns, doing laundry or showering during cleaning process.
 

Avoid planting brand new grass seed or plants until after the cleaning process. If you use an extermination company, try to schedule exterior extermination treatments after cleaning process rather than right before cleaning process. Contact your exterminator to consult.

 

Make sure to shut off any security alarms during the cleaning process.
